94 points Wine Enthusiast
Outer quote mark This luscious, ripe wine is both balanced and generous. Acidity comes from the freshness of the vintage, bringing out fruitiness to complement the tannins. The wine will develop well. (RV) Inner quote mark (1/2020)

90-93 points Wine Spectator
Outer quote mark Sleek, with dark cherry and plum pâte de fruit notes stretched out over a licorice thread. Offers an elegant, spice-infused finish. (JM) Inner quote mark (4/2018)

92 points Decanter
Outer quote mark This is rather lovely, with excellent aromatics and fine tannins with a feeling of flex and precision. There is no question that the fruit has form and density, with focussed cassis and tobacco notes and some slate. This also lasts well on the palate. The fruit is at the fresher end of the scale, as is true across most wines in 2017, but it's clearly successful. (JA) Inner quote mark (4/2018)

92 points James Suckling
Outer quote mark A tight, linear 2017 with compact fruit and seamless tannins that show length and beauty. Medium to full body. Lovely finish. Inner quote mark (1/2020)

88-90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Outer quote mark The 2017 Siran is deep garnet-purple in color and scented of baked black plums, cassis and kirsch with touches of spice cake and rose hip tea. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded tannins and plenty of juicy fruit, finishing with a pleasant bit of chew. (LPB) Inner quote mark (4/2018)

ABOUT SIRAN 2017 VINTAGE is produced from a blend of Merlot (46%), Cabernet Sauvignon (45%) and Petit Verdot (9%) and is aged in 30% new barrels. Once in the glass, Château Siran 2017 presents a beautiful deep garnet/purple color and distills a nose full of aromas of black fruits, blackcurrants and plums, cooked in the oven, and intermixed with notes of gingerbread and a floral touch. Round and powerful, Château Siran 2017 offers a medium-bodied palate with a velvety tannic structure. The ripe and juicy fruit aromas show a well balanced acidity and are supported by fine and abundant tannins. They develop and stretch on the palate, gradually revealing spicy notes at the finish. The 2017 vintage was difficult for the Bordeaux region. But despite the difficulties, this Château Siran 2017 seems well on its way to being one of the greatest successes of the estate!

ABOUT THE WINERY : Located on the Margaux appellation, the Château Siran vineyard covers an area of 25 hectares (to which can be added 9.5 hectares in Bordeaux Supérieur and 1.5 hectares in Haut Médoc) made up of gravel and pebbles which have the particularity of retaining only a minimum of rainwater. The vineyard is planted with Merlot (46%), Cabernet Sauvignon (41%), Petit Verdot (11%) and Cabernet Franc (2%). Unlike many of its peers, Château Siran's style is based on finesse rather than the power of Médoc wines, using a high percentage of Petit Verdot in its blends, which gives it a spicy finish.
