TASTING NOTE : Medium bodied, round and showing an earthy, thyme, woodsy, secondary character that adds to the bright, red plum and cherry notes. Give this 3-5 years to add more softness and flesh.

JAMES SUCKLING (93) :  Aromas of currants, fresh sweet tobacco, flowers, sandalwood and rose petals. Full-bodied, very rich and flavorful with minerals, white pepper and salt and hints of black tea. Intense finish with a bitter undertone for now. Needs a couple of years to come completely together. Inner quote mark (4/2018)

ROBERT PARLER'S NOTES : The 2015 Château Larmande felt heady and a little alcoholic on the nose with kirsch and crème de cassis aromas. The palate is smooth on the entry, rounded in texture, though it needs more backbone and structure on the straightforward finish. Not bad, but it needs more personality to come through by the time of bottling."

ABOUT OUR WINE : Our wine is craft with precision and finesse. After a traditional style of vinification in our parallelepipedal stainless steel vats, wine is aged in French oak barrels and in terra cotta amphoras during 14 to 18 months.Since the 2018 vintage, we age 10 % of our batches in amphoras. The porosity of terra cotta increases the oxygen exposure. Oxygen allows to soften the wines and maintain the fruity aromas. Thus, we produce a fine wine, Chateau Larmande, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé.

ABOUT THE VINTAGE : Located in Soutard, Saint-Emilion, these 20 hectares of vines thrive in the clay-chalk soil. A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon is vinified by the talented Véronique Corporandy, who is also the wine maker at Château Soutard. The extraction process is not prolonged, just enough to obtain a good structure and firm tannins. 60% of the maturation is in new barrels, and 40% in barrels already used for one or more wines. Full-bodied, complex, and deliciously fruity, this wine has an ageing potential of 15 years. In terms of food pairings, this cuvée is perfect for serving alongside a braised shoulder of lamb or wild boar.
