ROBERT PARKER Wine Advocate (88-90) - : The 2016 Lacoste-Borie is a blend of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, cropped at 50 hectoliters per hectare. It has a clean and precise bouquet, not as complex as some of its peers, yet with thoroughly enjoyable raspberry and blackcurrant leaf tinged with cedar. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy, slightly dry tannin on the entry, hints of dark chocolate interlacing the black fruit with a touch of cracked black pepper on the finish.

DECANTER (90) : This is a beautifully fresh wine with lovely, juicy black cassis flavours. The day-night temperature changes of up to 20 degrees centigrade made a huge difference to the quality of the tannins, and GPL has some of the steepest slopes and best draining soils in Pauillac to cope with the wet early season (although this also meant some blockage of young vines during the drought). Overall they have produced a plush, easy drinking wine that offers great pleasure. 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, with a yield of 50hl/ha. .

GRAPE VARIETIES : Cabernet Sauvignon 61%, Merlot 29%, Cabernet Franc 10%.

ABOUT THE WINERY : History
Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste was historically created by an adviser to the Parliament of Bordeaux in the early eighteenth century but the current castle dates from 1850. He entered the Borie family in 1978 and is now managed by François-Xavier. The Borie family has owned prestigious Grands Crus Classés for several generations now. This is undoubtedly one of the best terroirs of Pauillac and one of the most regular classified wines at the highest level. Lacoste Borie is the second wine of the famous Château Grand Puy Lacoste.

TERROIR & VINIFICATION Located at the top of the Bages Plateau, in an excellent neighborhood, this beautiful, homogenous 50-hectare vineyard, traditionally planted with 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, produces a wine reflecting this pretty terroir. Numerous investments have made it possible to improve the vinification and aging of Château Grand Puy Lacoste wines, which are always the subject of very careful, constant and meticulous care.
