WINEMAKER NOTES : The color is garnet red with ruby hues. The aroma is intense, persistent with clean aromas of fruits, dog roses and spices. Full, but at the same time, harmonious and balanced, with soft tannins, elegant and austere flavor with a good body and lingering hints of the olfactory sensations. This kind of wine is perfect to pair with pasta based dished, especially dressed with meat sauce, also good with ravioli pasta, red meats, roasts, stews, and cheeses of medium seasoning.

WINE CRITICS  : Wine Enthusiast (91) Star anise, Asian spice, crushed herb and red berry aromas meld together in the glass. The refined luminous palate delivers crushed red cherry, tart cranberry, white pepper and clove framed in bright acidity and elegant fine-grained tannins. Drink 2018–2024.

JS90James Suckling An elegant Barbaresco which shows morello cherries, treacle tart, dark plums and lavender. Medium to full body, fine tannins and a fresh finish.

RP90Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2014 Barbaresco Tradizione is a nicely centered wine that offers a solid array of ripe fruit flavors with cherry and red currant in pole position. As I have discovered with other Barbaresco wines from 2014, the fruit is surprisingly opulent and soft considering the below average temperatures that persisted throughout the summer season. Those plump characteristics are followed by moderate touches of spice, tar and smoke.

ABOUT THE WINERY : We have vineyards in the town of Barolo, in the Langhe area, in Roero and in Monferrato Nicese. We have been making wine and aging it in the ancient cellars of Marchesi di Barolo, where we welcome wine lovers who want to taste the history, scents and expressions of this legendary wine, Barolo: the King of Wines, the Wine of Kings. After buying the ancient cellars of Marchesi di Barolo in 1929, we have devoted ourselves to the activity that Marchesi Falletti had started at the beginning of the 19th century, as faithful interpreters of the rich diversity of these places, vineyards, and varieties. Our knowledge of the territory, together with our respect for varietal purity, has increasingly led us to focus on a specific management for each vineyard parcel. It is our winemaking principle to use the grapes separately, in order to keep their characteristics intact.

ABOUT TERROIR & VINYARDS : We are in Barolo, in the Langhe area, Piedmont, one of the greatest winegrowing territories in the world. In 2014 these hills were declared a Unesco World Heritage Site, together with part of Roero and Monferrato. Our winery is right in the heart of the town of Barolo, a small town surrounded by higher hills that protect it from bad weather and excessive flow of air. This peculiarity, combined with a predominantly clay and limestone soil, creates the ideal conditions for the nebbiolo grape variety to fully express itself: here you will discover it has great power as well as refinement, harmony and elegance. Our vineyards grow on the hills of the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato, relatively small areas which however are highly biodiverse. For this reason, the vintage is done separately in each vineyard and if necessary we harvest the grapes at different times, according to differences in elevation and/or exposition. In this way, we always ensure the health and perfect ripeness of the fruit.
