TASTING NOTES : Intense ruby red eye, the density is already present. Powerful and complex nose combining the sappy character of Seguin with notes of ripe fruit (blackcurrant and plum), lightly toasted and delicately smoked. Ample and dense on the palate with a lot of finesse and elegance. The tannins are very velvety. Nice long finish without dryness.

ABOUT THE WINE :Château Seguin’s terroir, a patchwork of fine Villafranchian gravel and multi-coloured clay, was famous as early as the 19th century. Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon combine here to produce a noble blend. This has a refined bouquet with smoky and pine resin nuances. It is also rich and deep on the palate, clearly one of the great wines of Pessac. Everything we do in the vineyard and cellar focuses on expressing the fruit and preserving the typicity of this great terroir. 

ABOUT THE WINERY : In times past, present-day Château Seguin was a traditional stopover for pilgrims going to Santiago de Compostela. Pilgrims still wend their way past the estate today, under the benevolent eye of the Seguin Cross overlooking the vines. In the early 20th century, this ancient estate belonged to the Pascal family. It produced 3,500 cases of wine at the time, which was already much-appreciated. Féret (“Bordeaux and its Wines”) describes Seguin as follows: “the highest point in the village with magnificent gravel rises producing generous, very refined wines reminiscent Haut Brion”. Nestled in the Eau Bourde valley in the northern part of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, the vineyard is split into two sections, each slightly over 15 hectares in size: Seguin and Petit Bordeaux.
