TASTING NOTES : The highly aromatic and varietal Cartagena Gewurztraminer is dry and austere on the Taste and has the telltale varietal aromas of lychee and rose petal as well as that characteristic bitterness on the Finish. It has moderate acidity, lowish compared with its siblings. It seems to call for some Thai food. One only has to serve a glass of this wine, and a sweet perfume of white peach, rose petals and lychee will spread around the room. Our Gewurztraminer comes from flat terroirs dominated by clay soils. Gewurztraminer has a naturally-occurring lower acidity than Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling and is often made as a sweet wine. Cartagena Gewurztraminer is a dry version of this wine with only 4 grams of residual sugar per liter. Thanks to its fresh acidity, it is a very friendly version of Gewurztraminer.

ABOUT THE WINERY : Casa Marín’s founder, owner and winemaker, María Luz Marín, challenged the Chilean wine community, created history by planting the vines in the Lo Abarca Hills which is so close to the ocean, just 4km away from it. This is the coldest area in the region of San Antonio Valley, perfect in making wines sustainably. Their Grand Cru Pinot Noir from the Lo Abarca Hills was rated consistently above 90pts by most wine critics.
